Work Location: various locations- Edmonton and surrounding area Type of Employment: Full time – Seasonal (6-month contract) Estimated Start Date: May 1st, 2018 Job Description: • Plan and direct grounds maintenance. Work closely with the owner to: maintain efficient operations, meet deadlines and project budgets • Able to schedule and execute all aspects of a landscape project • Organize and direct planting of trees, gardens and lawns, • Organize and direct construction of fences, decks and walls, • Plan, manage and supervise landscape construction work • Supervise nursery and greenhouse workers, • Repair and maintain equipment.Maintains assigned equipment and reports required repairs • Requisition or order materials, equipment and supplies, • Establish work schedules and procedures, • Resolve work related problems • Hire, supervise and schedule staff, • Plan and estimate labour and materials, • Tender and administer contracts, • Read blueprints and drawings • Ability to access and manage maintenance sites, follow specifications, and implement a plan. • Operates a variety of equipment ie, skid steers, excavator • Complies with health and safety policies and procedures. • The ability and confidence to lead and direct a team • Assist in the preparation of jobsites • Establish and maintain training procedures • Overall site management and quality control • Coordination and completion of scheduled services and associated paperwork Requirements: -Education: Completion of high school is required -Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance Labourer is required. In the event that the candidate does not have 2 years of experience as a Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance Labourer then specialized courses or industry-related training and certification in landscaping and horticulture are required. Hands-on experience required with all aspects of a landscape project -Driver’s license is an asset since the worker will have to go to various work locations -Physically demanding -The worker will supervise 1-6 employees Salary: $26.40 to $30.00 hourly – 40-60 hours per week.
